Cookie Policy

Learn how we use cookies and browser local storage to manage your preferences and local tool workflow.

1. What are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites that you visit. Local Storage (including localStorage) is a standard technology that allows web applications to store data directly in your browser. Unlike cookies, local storage has larger storage limits and the data is not automatically transmitted to servers with every HTTP request.

2. Our Minimalist Approach

At iluvepdf, we believe in minimal data footprint. We do not use behavioral tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party marketing trackers. All storage items utilized are strictly functional and essential to providing our local browser-based workspace.

3. What We Store and Why

We utilize browser local storage to preserve your preferences and enable features that improve your editing workflow. The specific variables used are:

  • Theme Preference (theme / theme-preference): Stored locally to remember whether you prefer viewing the site in Dark Mode or Light Mode.
  • Tool Process History (iluvepdf_history): Stores a list of your recently processed files (name, file size, name of the tool used, and timestamp). This log runs 100% locally in your browser's storage and is rendered on the home dashboard to let you easily review your work.
  • Active Workspace (Temporary memory): When you upload a file, the binary data is loaded into your browser's RAM memory (in-memory state) to let you process and download it. This is cleared instantly when you close or reload the browser tab.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some third-party tools we integrate may utilize cookies:

  • Web3Forms: The contact form uses Web3Forms to deliver support submissions to our inbox. When you submit a ticket, basic session identifiers may be set temporarily to prevent spam and verify form security.
  • Fonts & Libraries: We load assets locally or from secure content delivery networks (CDNs) which do not track you or set cookies.

5. How to Control and Clear Storage

You have complete control over the cookie and local storage data stored on your device:

  • Clear Site Data: You can wipe out all local history and settings instantly by clicking your browser's settings/lock icon next to the address bar and selecting "Clear site data" or "Cookies and site data".
  • Browser Preferences: You can configure your browser to reject all local storage data, although this will prevent the site from remembering your theme and history.
